Chemistry Insight Center (cic) Holds Training Activities On Making Bar Soap And Dab Soap From Used Cooking Oil With Tp Pkk Women In Sungai Rengas Village

Did you know that the used cooking oil in your house can be turned into soap? Amazing isn't it?

Waste cooking oil is cooking oil that has been used either once or several times. Based on research, it is stated that used cooking oil is waste because it has an increased acid number and peroxide value and contains carcinogenic compounds during the frying process. Used cooking oil waste will increase day by day, so people need to be introduced to creative/innovative ideas in order to minimize household waste, especially those that have the potential to damage the environment. Used cooking oil waste produced from frying pans in kitchens or fried food vendors can be reprocessed into bar soap and dabbing soap. This can be an opportunity for housewives to be more productive in creating/producing used goods/trash into goods of economic value. This used cooking oil can be processed into raw material for making soap as a solution to the problem of waste from food and household production.

On January 17 2023, CIC conducted soap making training with TP PKK women from Sungai Rengas Village. The soap was made in the form of sticks and sticks, one of the ingredients being used cooking oil with the aim of reducing household waste, friends!!

Making soap from used cooking oil uses ingredients that are easily available such as salt, masako, flour, celery, carrot pieces, and additional chemicals to form soap, namely Potassium Hydroxide (KOH). The housewives in Sungai Rengas Village are very happy and enjoy taking part in the activities held by the Chemistry Insight Center!

Cool, right? Now women in Sungai Rengas Village can make their own soap from used cooking oil and can reduce household waste. Yes!
