The Undergraduate Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University, Pontianak, held Community Service activities in Kamuh Village, Seventeen District, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. Kamuh Village is one of the transmigration villages located in the north of Bengkayang Regency, which is around 270 km from Pontianak, where most of the people work as farmers. This activity carries the title "Increasing Food Security Through Training Activities in Making Corn-Based Crackers for the Community of Kamuh Village, Seventeen District, Bengkayang Regency".
This activity is a form of community service by the team of lecturers from the Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This activity was carried out in an effort to help the Kamuh Village community increase the economic value of corn as one of their superior agricultural products. This one-day activity explained the potential of corn as a food ingredient along with a coaching clinic on corn agricultural product innovation, followed by training in making corn-based crackers. This activity was welcomed by the Village Head, Mr. Sukaryadi, where he helped facilitate both the location of the activity and the facilities and infrastructure so that this activity could be carried out well. The community also showed the same thing, where they were very enthusiastic about taking part in this activity and really hoped that similar activities could be carried out on an ongoing basis.
