In order to fill free time during school holidays, Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center is again collaborating with the Chemistry Insight Center of Tanjungpura University (CIC Untan) to hold a "Fun Chemistry for Kids" activity which will last for 3 days, namely from 9, 10 and 11 July 2024 at the Garden Lounge, 1st Floor of the Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center. The aim of holding the Fun Chem 2024 activity is:
1. Become a 'learning space' for elementary school age children about natural science
those related to chemistry during the holidays increase classes by offering methods
learning fun.
2. Accompany children in exploring and honing their confidence when speaking
in public.

"This is the third time that Aston Pontianak and CIC Untan have held Fun Chemistry activities, and this year there is something different, namely there is a very good Public Speaking workshop to train children to be brave and confident in speaking in front," said Arifin as a representative from Aston Pontianak Hotel & Convention Center.

Meanwhile, Head of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA Untan, Andi Hairil Alimuddin, added that one of the aims of this activity is to introduce chemistry to children close to everyday life. 
"In each experiment, children are invited to practice and explained by the assistant step by step so that they can see that science, especially chemistry, can be very fun and interesting," he said.

Fun Chemistry for Kids activities are designed for children aged 6-12 years with an interactive approach and simple experiments, interspersed with exciting games so that children can learn while playing. The series of activities are as follows: 

• Basics of Public Speaking, July 9, 2024

This activity was attended by 20 participants. Participants are invited to learn to speak in public and practice self-confidence from an early age. This public speaking material was delivered by Mrs. Risya Sasri, S.Sc., M.Si. This received a positive response from each participant

• Cottage Cheese

This activity was attended by 25 participants who were accompanied by practical assistants for each group. Participants are invited to learn about the colloid coagulation system through making simple cheese. In this experiment, the solid substances in the milk coagulated, then the enzyme rennet was added and salted to reduce excess water and preserve the cheese.

• Magic Ice Cream

This activity was attended by 30 participants who were accompanied by practical assistants for each group. The Magic ice experiment was carried out so that little scientists know about changes in the state of gas and its characteristics through chemical reactions. In this experiment, there is a change in the state of the object from liquid to solid, which is called solidification, which is assisted by coarse salt to lower the freezing point of the ice cubes. 

The activity became more interesting with the uiz games session and appreciation from the most active participants. Then it was closed by giving souvenirs from CIC FMIPA Untan to the Aston Hotel Convention Center, and vice versa. 
Overall, the Fun Chem 2024 activity was successfully implemented and received a very enthusiastic response from the participants.

Kegiatan semakin menarik dengan sesi uiz games dan apresiasi peserta teraktif. Kemudian ditutup dengan pemberian cenderamata dari CIC FMIPA Untan kepada Aston Hotel Convention Center, begitu sebaliknya. Secara keseluruhan kegiatan Fun Chem 2024 ini telah sukses dilaksanakan dan mendapat sambutan yang sangat antusias baik dari para peserta.
